The Craft of Harris Tweed
Sunspel
DoPDirectorEdit
Sunspel is a British heritage brand known for its understated design, quality craftsmanship, and commitment to timeless materials.
The brief was to document The Craft of Harris Tweed on location on the Isle of Harris—exploring the landscape, the traditional processes behind the fabric, and the people who make it. The films needed to celebrate the craft itself while naturally associating Sunspel with the place, its rhythms, and its heritage.
Shot entirely with available light, the project balanced considered landscapes and intimate portraits with unobtrusive reportage captured throughout the trip. The colours of the tweed—drawn directly from the surrounding landscape—were echoed in the visual approach, creating a sense of harmony between place, process, and product. Authentic, in-between moments sat alongside quieter, composed imagery to form a collection of films that felt honest, tactile, and deeply rooted in the island.
